Reflection of Dawn

"Reflection of Dawn", 5"x7", Oil on Canvas.

Impasto is a technique where thick layers of paint are used to create beautiful illusions. Using this technique, I created these landscapes using a pallet knife and loose movements. Mirrored against each other, the two reflect lighting from different times of day; dawn and dusk. The thickness of the paint gives the birds a real-life 3-D effect, making them feel like they’re coming out of their backgrounds.
